The Bachelorette Party Game We Love

Bachelorette party games. There are some that can be corny, hilarious or raunchy, and there are some that are a combination of all three. They can be super fun and provide hours of entertainment if the group is into it, but also risk being just a boring distraction if it is not the bride's style. As the bride, you're either against them or for them, and we completely respect your decision. But after a lot of research, feedback and attending bachelorette parties ourselves, we have found that at the end of the day, there is always one game that almost everyone can get on board with. And now, we have been fortunate enough to partner with them to share their new edition and give you all the deets!

You’ve arrived at your bachelorette party, decided to get dinner catered and stay in for the night. Or you are pregaming with a few cocktails before bottle service at a nightclub. Or you are hanging by the pool for the afternoon and need some entertainment. Downtime at your bachelorette party is always a must. BUT, usually that downtime is crucial for bonding, hanging out and having some good laughs with the ladies (and likely some drinks). We have found that no matter where the party or what the atmosphere, there is one answer that goes above and beyond and gets us riled up every single time…What Do You Meme.

AND, guess what?!

They have just come out with a new edition, and we could not be more excited because it is the perfect addition to your bachelorette party or girl's weekend. We have partnered with What Do You Meme to share with you the highly anticipated, For The Girls Adult Party Game.

IMG_5586.jpg

The game covers multiple categories that will engage everyone attending the bachelorette. Whether you have a small group of six ladies, or a crew of twenty - everyone can play and all guests will be thoroughly entertained! From Truth or Dare to Rapid Fire to Best of the Best and Most Likely To cards - no stone will be left unturned. You'll get to know the bride, bridal party, your friends AND your acquaintances even better than you were hoping to.

What we love most about this game is that you have the option to make it your own and work for the girls that are attending the party. Only want to cover one category? Go for it! Want to turn it into a drinking game? Be our guest. Want to specifically target the bride and make her embarrassed / laugh or let her ask the questions? By all means. Or you can play the traditional way and roll the die, woman up and play the hand that is dealt to you. Just make sure everyone knows to create a judgement free zone...and of course, whatever happens at a bachelorette party, stays at a bachelorette party (whether in Vegas, or not in Vegas).

While you can always purchase For The Girls on Amazon, we would love to curate a package for you to send directly to your girl's weekend. We can include party swag and decorations that coordinate with your theme or color scheme of the weekend and include this and any other game to maximize your weekend fun! The bride can keep this game on hand to bring out at future bachelorettes, and even before and after her wedding!

Keep an eye out on our Instagram page, @bachtobasic for a giveaway as we'll soon be giving two lucky winners a For The Girls game to take with them to their party.

Bachelorette Party Decorations

If a party doesn’t have decorations, is it really a celebration?  The answer is a resounding NO.  No worries if party décor is not your thing.  Bach to Basic has you covered with the 5 main elements to consider when planning a bachelorette party that will be pleasing to the eye.

#1 Balloons

A balloon’s only purpose in life is to say, “let’s party!” Suffice to say that they are a must-have for your celebration.  There are TONS of amazing options to choose from, so you’re guaranteed to find a balloon that perfectly fits the vibe of your party.

#2 Pool Floats

If a body of water will be part of your bachelorette bash, then you would be remiss to forget the pool floats.  They will be the hit of your party (and more importantly, your Instagram posts).

#3 Themed Bars (Mimosa, Dessert, Coffee, You Name It!)

Nothing shows that you made an effort quite like a thoughtfully-designed bar.  And we’re not just talking about the drink kind.  You can literally make a themed bar for anything that you love to consume.  Pancakes, parfaits, hot chocolate, desserts, tacos, popcorn…As individual as the bride you are toasting (OMG, an avocado toast bar!) a themed bar will be the gathering place for your guests.

#4 Florals

A bachelorette party is really a celebration of love.  And can you celebrate love without a few flowers?  We think not.  Take this literally and stuff vases with seasonal cut flowers or find more inventive ways to incorporate florals. (Do you see those ice cubes below??)

#5 The Little Details

Party décor 101 says it’s all in the details.  These little details can add up to make a BIG impact.  The good part?  Pulling them together takes about as much effort as placing an Amazon order.  And we all know you can do that!

Follow Bach to Basic on Pinterest for more drool-worthy party décor inspiration.  And if our tips above still have your scratching your head, let Bach to Basic put together a personal décor board for your party.  We even have partners who can set-up your party décor on-site.  Like we said, we’ve got you covered.

Bachelorette Party Dress - A Night Out

It’s your special night out to celebrate your impending nuptials. WHAT DO YOU WEAR? The answer lies in one question - What kind of bride are you? See below for some of our 2019 bridal wear inspiration for a night out!

The Rose-Colored Glasses Bride

Life is good. You’re marrying the person of your dreams and there is no budget for the affair. When the world is your oyster and you live on cloud 9, there’s no other choice than a whimsical floral to match your carefree attitude.

The Bridezilla

YOU are getting married, so this is YOUR night. All eyes and attention should be on YOU. Duh. The wedding is the one and only thing that matters, so why would you wear anything else but WHITE?

The Unconventional Bride

When all other brides are carrying peonies, you choose dahlias. Instead of three tiers of fondant, your cake will be tiers of artisanal cheeses. Nothing at your wedding will be expected. Naturally, you’ll be in black for your bachelorette night.

NYC

No matter what time of year, this city is ready to PAR-TAY. An incredible variety of things to do, restaurants to dine at, bars to dance at…rooftops, spas, museums - the possibilities are endless! There is so much to do, in fact, that we highly recommend having the weekend planned out to avoid standing in lines or having things sell out. While not light on the wallet, do it right and it will be worth every penny!

Lake Tahoe

A destination worth the hassle of travel. With stunning views everywhere you look, this location is ideal for the ultimate girls getaway weekend. There are plenty of ways to get out on the water and explore the mountains! Take your party out to the bars after a nice dinner, or keep it low key at your epic house rental with delicious catering. There is something for everyone. And it doesn’t hurt that the whole crew’s Insta game will be killing it with all the photo ops!

Las Vegas

It doesn't get more basic than Las Vegas! You know what they say - what happens in Vegas... Whether you're here to party or just want to relax and catch a show, Vegas has a bit of something for everyone. Catch a Thunder Down Under show before getting down to Cardi B at the newly opened Kaos Nightclub. Show off that beach bod with the Chainsmokers at Encore Beach Club. Whether you're looking to dayparty or hit the nightclubs, Discotech's got you covered. Vegas also hosts restaurants from some of the world's best chefs. Looking to turn it down? Nurse that hangover at any of the ultra luxury spas at the Aria or Venetian. Viva la vegas, baby!

To Go to the Sweat Sesh Or Have It Come to You?
Not something you've really had to think about before (we know), but trust us, it matters! Think about where you'll be (i.e. at a beach front hotel or a house rental) and what state the squad will be in after a night out. If your crew is feeling adventurous and want to keep the sweat sesh party somewhat of a surprise, then we definitely recommend having it somewhere fun and unexpected. If you're aiming for comfortable, casual and laid back then your backyard it is!

Representing the Bride's Style or Her Favorite Things
She's all about Beyonce (who isn't?), so we incorporate her music, maybe some fab one-piece body suits for all the ladies to workout in and some lemonade (obvi) for a post workout thirst quencher. Or, maybe she's the Charlotte in the crew (a la SATC) and loves a classy, bridal vibe with an all-white or blush floral backdrop for selfies, some ElderFlower Rose (our fave is Belvior) for a healthy, non-alcoholic alternative and a monogrammed yoga mat commemorating the occasion.

We're all about taking the obligation out of working out and bringing friends together through fitness. We love getting creative with every fitness event/get-together we host and none are too big or too small. Have an event to plan? Shoot us an email to get started! House Rental Versus Hotel - Which Is Best For Your Bach?

A question we get a lot for our bachelor and bachelorette parties! The comfort and luxury of a hotel or resort, or the independence and communal space of a house rental? Which is best for your group? We've broken down the pros and cons of both accommodations to help you decide!

Hotel Pros

  • Hotels can be more affordable for a small group versus a large group.
  • Cleaning service, duh! No dishes or bed making!
  • Hotel amenities on location - pool, spa, concierge, etc. Can be great activities for your group without going very far.
  • Room service...
  • Sometimes more options for hotels are available in major cities.

Hotel Cons

  • Hotels can be very pricey for large groups depending on the number of rooms you need.
  • Booking multiple rooms splits your group up instead of having communal space (unless you are able to upgrade to suites!). You'll have to squeeze in, or find another location for some downtime.
  • Hotels can be very expensive in major cities, especially during certain times of year.
  • Lack of city authenticity - staying in a chain hotel can feel the same anywhere.

House Rental Pros

  • House rentals provide communal space for hanging out, which is especially great for large groups!
  • Space to prepare your own meals or have more extravagant meals catered in.
  • Room to setup a bubbly bar, Bloody Mary bar, etc!
  • More ability to select the amenities you're looking for.
  • Generally, there is a large selection of unique houses/apartments and a larger variety of spaces.
  • House rentals are available in smaller cities and more remote areas.
  • More space for decorating!
  • Often more bathroom space, and groups can get ready together!
  • Generally, house rentals are a more affordable option depending on city and time of year. Owners are sometimes willing to negotiate price.

House Rental Cons

  • Sometimes better houses are located further from downtown areas.
  • No cleaning service during your stay.
  • Less amenities are available on site - no concierge or manager if something goes wrong.
  • Checking in and out can sometimes be more of a hassle than a hotel.

Since we primarily work with larger groups on our bachelor and bachelorette parties, we tend to lean towards suggesting house rentals. We love the ability to schedule meal and grocery deliveries, encourage downtime in the morning to catch up with friends and send lots of decor for Instagram worthy photos!

Bachelor and Bachelorette Party Planning (Timeline)

One of the biggest questions we get from brides, grooms and friends helping to plan the bachelor or bachelorette party is "When do we need to start this process?" With so much involved in making the weekend come together, and coordinating the schedules of large groups, we get it! Especially, if traveling to an outside location, timing is everything.

We've put together a tentative timeline that will hopefully be helpful in the planning process, and letting the guests know when you will need responses by.

Setting A Date

One of the most important pieces of the puzzle and something that is never discussed too early. Especially if flying, we recommend settling on a date at least six months in advance of the party. When coordinating weddings, bridal showers and other bachelorette parties, friends' calendars will fill up fast! This gives the guests plenty of time to make sure they are available and can prepare for the adventure.

Selecting a Location & Booking Flights (If Needed)

Next on the list is choosing a location for your bachelor or bachelorette party.  If the bride or groom already have a spot selected, then you are good to go and can notify the guests right away! If not, consider basing your location on flight prices or an awesome house rental (we can provide suggestions!). Websites like Kayak Explore and Google Flights let you input dates or timeframes and see where you can fly for the best price. If flying, we recommend selecting a location and booking flights at least 5-6 months in advance. If driving, we recommend selecting the location at least 4 months in advance.

Booking Accommodations

Depending on where the party is, this can be an urgent task. Popular cities like Miami, NYC, Chicago and Charleston fill up fast, especially during their prime seasons. We very often recommend house rentals for large groups allowing more unstructured hangout time and budget-friendly options. That said, sites like Airbnb and Homeaway have become go-to options for all travelers and if you wait too long, it is possible all house rentals within your budget will be booked. Where you are staying can also determine a number of other factors to your trip, so it is definitely a priority to book early! We suggest looking for accommodations 3-5 months in advance of your party.

Meals and Activities

The key ingredients to make your bachelor or bachelorette party perfect for your bride or groom! There is such a range of meals and activities, and it is important to make sure you have a wide selection to choose from. Like house rentals, a lot of their availability depends on how popular of a city you are going to, or the season you are traveling in. We've found that high profile restaurants will fill up very quickly (even months in advance!), especially when booking reservations for large groups. Many activities may have a limited number of spaces available, and in order to get your preferred date and time, it is crucial to make contact with the vendor earlier than you might think. In popular cities (ie: NYC, Charleston, Miami, Chicago), we recommend looking into meals and activities at least 2-3 months prior to the bach. For less popular destinations, we recommend making bookings at least 2 months in advance.

Decorations and Party Swag

While often this is the first thing to come to mind, this should be last on your list of to-dos! Sometimes the most fun part of the planning is the decorating and compiling party swag for your I Do Crew. From hats to t-shirts to sunglasses and confetti to balloons to garlands, this is what makes your trip Instagram worthy, right?! We recommend gathering intel on party swag and decorations around one month in advance of your trip. This will give plenty of time to gather sizes (if needed), make sure products are in stock and have them arrive to you safely before embarking on your journey. Visit Bach to Basic on Pinterest for party inspiration - we would be happy to curate a custom box to send directly to your party to alleviate the stress!

Whether planning a bachelor or bachelorette party on your own, or with our help at Bach to Basic, we hope this helps to make sure your bride or groom get everything they are hoping for! Keeping a relative timeline for your planning always helps when trying to coordinate a large group, and lots of busy schedules.
